Foundation seeks to promote transparency and the defense of democratic principles in civic discourse, particularly among global youth
WASHINGTON – Sept. 19, 2024 – The Valentino Danchev Foundation (VDF), founded by Bulgarian-Mexican entrepreneur Kaloyan Valentinov Danchev, today announced its official launch at an event with former U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and former Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov.
The fireside chat between Secretary Pompeo and Prime Minister Petkov, hosted the evening of Sept. 19 at the offices of international government affairs firm The Vogel Group in Washington, D.C., will focus on the negative impacts of Russian influence on society and democracy in Bulgaria, an important NATO and E.U. ally.
“At this critical time, geopolitical stability is under threat around the globe,” said VDF founder and chairman Valentino Danchev. “Our foundation is here to help foster important dialogue to promote western ideals, a strong NATO alliance, and to educate a new generation about the necessity of transparent, free, and open democratic systems. Secretary Pompeo and Prime Minister Petkov share these core values and I am grateful that they are here to inaugurate VDF’s first-ever event and lead a discussion on this important issue.”
